Education Scotland Inspection

In September 2022, a team of inspectors from Education Scotland visited Dennistoun Early Years Centre. During their visit, they talked to parents/carers and worked closely with the head of centre and practitioners.

The inspection team found the following strengths in the setting’s work.

• The very good leadership of the head of centre and depute. They have led the strong team of practitioners very well during challenging times whilst continuing to sustain high quality early learning and childcare.

• Highly effective practitioners who provide rich learning experiences both indoors and outdoors to promote and support children’s thinking, curiosity and enquiry.

• Strong relationships and partnerships across the setting and beyond which make a significant difference to the wellbeing and outcomes for children and families.

• The very good progress children are making in their development and learning, particularly in early communication and language and early numeracy.

The following areas for improvement were identified and discussed with the head of centre and a representative from Glasgow City Council.

• Continue to extend leadership at all levels to enhance shared ownership of the centre’s improvement plan and future developments.

• Progress the relevant priorities identified in the centre’s improvements plan.
